Gautama Buddha (c. 563 BCE/480 BCE – c. 483 BCE/400 BCE), also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, Śhakyamuni Buddha, or simply the Buddha, after the title of Buddha, was an ascetic (śramaṇa) and sage, on whose teachings Buddhism was founded. He is believed to have lived and taught mostly in the eastern part of ancient India sometime between the sixth and fourth centuries BCE. Gautama is the primary figure in Buddhism.

It is wrong to think that misfortunes come from the east or from the west, they originate within one's own mind. Therefore it is foolish to guard against misfortunes from the external world and leave the inner mind uncontrolled.

When one has the feeling of dislike for evil when one feels tranquil one finds pleasure in listening to good teachings, when one has these feelings and appreciates them one is free of fear.

Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes.

Embrace nothing: If you meet the Buddha kill the Buddha. If you meet your father kill your father. Only live your life as it is Not bound to anything.

The example of the raft shows dharmas should be treated as provisional as means to an end. The same holds good of emptiness too the negation of dharmas. This corollary has elsewhere been illustrated by the simile of medicine which can heal any ill

It is to see the faults of others but difficult to see once own faults. One shows the faults of others like chaff winnowed in the wind but one conceals one's own faults as a cunning gambler conceals his dice.

It is surprising in the welter of questions that one gets at (languor) how few actually relate to the performance of the company or the decisions taken by the board in particular areas.

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all then accept it and live up to it.

My doctrine is not a doctrine but just a vision. I have not given you any set rules, I have not given you a system.

If a man possesses a repentant spirit his sins will disappear, but if he has an unrepentant spirit his sins will continue and condemn him for their sake forever.

Again a different meaning has to be understood.

All acts of living become bad by ten things and by avoiding the ten things they become good. There are three evils of the body, four evils of the tongue and three evils of the mind.

It takes hundred of years sitting together in the same boat. It takes thousand of years sharing the same bed with. It calls : The predestined affinity.

The wise having hearkened to the Good Law become serene like unto a deep calm and crystal-clear lake.

Those whose minds are well fixed upon the elements of enlightenment, who without hankering after anything glory in renunciation, whose biases are extinguished, who are full of light -  they indeed have attained the bliss of nirvana in this very world.

The Buddhas do but tell the way, it is for you to swelter at the task.

You must leave righteous ways behind, not to speak of unrighteous ways.
